5 New Nashville Retail Spots to Check Out!

Summer introduced even more opportunities for great shopping in Nashville. From custom lipsticks and toys to a neighborhood market with thoughtfully chosen goods, the city is bursting with new retail concepts to keep our pantries stocked, our wardrobes fresh, and our gift-giving a breeze. From East Nashville to Green Hills, check out these five new spots!

Spread Market & Larder
1330 5th Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37208 • (828) 318-6654
Hours: Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Monday through Wednesday

Germantown just got a dose of curated culinary fare with the opening of Spread Market and Larder. Owned by Chad and Alex Kelly, the shop boasts a selection of cured meats, snack items, beer and cider (natural wines coming soon!), homemade bread, and daily sandwich options like cold pork belly, cucumbers, and goat cheese with Piparra peppers.

There are 16 seats for anyone looking to rest a spell and sip a glass of something tasty on-site. Even as you indulge, your eyes can’t help but travel over the colorful assortment of hand-picked pantry items such as French cornichons and specialty condiments. “Friends have been really excited about Graza Olive Oil, GinMayo, and Lusty Monk Mustard,” Alex tells us. “Everything was intentionally chosen for the product itself, as well as the branding and the story behind the business.”

Before you leave, be sure to grab a few housemade sourdough cinnamon rolls for later!

The Extended Shop
409 11th Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37203 • (615) 823-6000
Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

Officially opening its doors in June, The Extended Shop has graduated from local market pop-ups to a brick-and-mortar in Capitol View. The plus-size boutique from owner Amy Skerratt is a breath of fresh air — a retail experience that promotes positivity and inclusivity. In fact, the concept’s tagline is “You belong here — in your body, in your size.”

Shop for work or play, from easy breezy summer dresses and shorts sets to eveningwear and accessories, with inclusive sizes that typically run from 1x to 3x and sometimes to 5x. “We are just getting started!” says Amy. “We plan to launch online this fall, continuing to host fun and different pop-ups and sourcing beautiful clothes and accessories … We have a mix of trendy and classic styles in the size range 1 to 3x, a variety of styles going up to 5x, and hopefully by the holidays we will be carrying a line that goes up to 6x. Inclusivity is the goal.”

Sarah Flint Shoes
2126 Abbott Martin Rd., Ste 222, Nashville, TN 37215 • (615) 924-8972
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Another recent transplant to the Nashville retail scene, shoe designer Sarah Flint opened her first permanent location at the Mall at Green Hills on Friday, June 3, after pop-ups in New York, Washington, D.C., and Dallas. The young entrepreneur and founder is finding success in her direct-to-consumer, by-women-for-women footwear brand.

“I first visited Nashville when my sister was at Vanderbilt,” she tells us, “and I fell in love with the food, music, and energy. It’s such an exciting city to establish our first permanent storefront.” Sarah celebrated that grand opening with an in-store launch party, followed by several shopping events. “I love connecting personally with our customers, so these events are always a treat,” she says.

Along with that personalized service, you can anticipate handcrafted shoes and accessories in a welcoming space. “It’s important to me that our stores feel welcoming, right down to having tea and cookies served daily!” Sarah says. Of course, the real draw is in the shop’s product line, which features plenty of options, regardless of your style preferences. “We have bestsellers like our Natalie flat and Perfect Pump, seasonal styles from our new Ode to Italy Collection, and pairs from our stunning Sarah Flint x Gracie collaboration,” Sarah explains. “We also have an array of accessories, including silk scarves, headbands, and table linens.”

Tabla Rasa Toys
1200 Porter Rd., Nashville, TN 37206
Hours: Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Monday

If the phrase “toy store” conjures up images of shelves filled with trucks and teddy bears that should be viewed at a distance unless you’re buying them, you’re in for a treat. Located across from Cafe Roze in East Nashville, locally owned Tabla Rasa Toys takes play to a new level with its interactive setup that also includes a skate shop and café.

Kids are encouraged to “open their minds to play” with fun, hands-on toy-testing opportunities both indoors and outdoors. The store is filled to the brim with colorful, educational, exciting toys (some are even made locally!) that delight kids and grown-ups alike. Additionally, the attached café, Soft Service Station, offers a full espresso menu, chai, lavender lemonade, their signature cold brew, and soft serve ice cream — best enjoyed at the picnic tables as you watch young skateboarding enthusiasts navigate the outdoor skate ramp. There’s even a swing and custom seesaw for those who may not be skate-inclined.

Lip Lab
5014 Broadway Pl. 102 5 Space, Nashville, TN 37203 • (615) 823-6000
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It is no surprise that Fifth + Broad continues to add retail and restaurants left and right. A mecca for all things food and fun-related, the hotspot is a major draw for both locals and tourists. With that in mind, it stands to reason that Lip Lab has made its way to Nashville (other locations include Paris, Dallas, and Las Vegas), taking up residence between mega-popular clothing store Free People and Mediterranean-inspired fast-casual eatery Cava.

The shop offers a custom lipstick experience as you sit down with a color expert to personalize a lipstick with your ultimate combination of color, flavor, finish, name, and even package engraving. Choose from 29 pigments, four flavors, and three different finishes.

“We specialize in custom lipstick and have ready-to-wear products to choose from as well, such as our Current Cravings — seasonal shades trend-forecasted by our color experts,” says Nashville store manager Taylor Garcia. Perfect for everything from birthdays to bridal showers, this bespoke lipstick store is a unique and memorable experience! Did we mention the lipsticks are vegan?
