HealthStream Inc. has confirmed plans to move its corporate headquarters to roughly 67,000 square feet of space at a new building that will soon start rising at the Capitol View mixed-use campus in the North Gulch.
The health care information technology company led by CEO Robert A. Frist Jr. expects to relocate in April 2019 from its corporate home of 18 years at the Cummins Station office-retail complex in the Gulch.
Roughly 340 HealthStream employees are expected to be involved with the move to the top two floors of a 10-story building that’s part of the next phase of Capitol View. Overall, plans call for 300,000 square feet of office space, 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 1,200-space parking garage on what’s known as Block E.
“As one of the newest developing urban districts in Nashville, the North Gulch area represents an ideal location for HealthStream’s corporate office,” Frist said. “Our selection of Capitol View, in particular, provides a modern, amenity-rich environment that will be highly attractive to our diverse base of employees, supporting a sense of innovation in our corporate culture.”
HealthStream will join hospital chain HCA’s health care business solutions company Parallon and Sarah Cannon Research Institute subsidiary among corporate office users at Capitol View along with LifeWay Christian Resources.
Even after the headquarters move to Capitol View, HealthStream plans to maintain its other current local offices at the Nashville airport-area Highland Ridge office park and at the Maryland Farms business park in Brentwood. The company employs roughly 170 at Highland Ridge and about 70 at Maryland Farms.
Currently, HealthStream is Cummins Station’s largest tenant, occupying roughly 77,000 square feet of space at the 400,000 square foot office/retail complex.
The Nashville office of commercial real estate firm JLL handles leasing at Cummins Station on behalf of owner Zach Liff’s DZL Management.
“After the strongest period for leasing in its history, Cummins Station is currently 99 percent leased,” said Bo Tyler, the building’s leasing agent and a managing director with JLL locally. “So for the first time in a while, we’ll be able to pursue larger tenants and more freely grow existing tenants.”
Cummins Station, which is next to the planned Gulch-SoBro pedestrian bridge, just installed Google Fiber’s high-speed Internet service.
Frist said HealthStream employees working out of the Capitol View office will enjoy a 2.5-acre urban activity Park connected to Nashville’s greenway system, along with walkable, wide sidewalks that will connect the North and South Gulch areas.
